 Nelson Wine estate was adjudged the Champion Wine Estate and Private Producer under 2000 tonnes for the Boland region in 2008. This is a reflection on the fantastic wines produced by the new winemaker, Lisha Nelson. Lisha was appointed at the end of 2007, and after cleaning out the cellar at the start of her tenure, she set about her task of producing some of the finest wines in Soth Africa. Her dream of "one day" creating great wines become a reality much sooner than anyone could have imagined. In her first harvest she managed to produce the runner-up wine in South Africa for 2008. This wonderful Cabernet Franc 2008 was also ajudged the South African Champion Cabernet franc and South African Champion "Other Red Cultivar" - being a cultivar other than a noble cultivar. Lisha has been going from strength to strength and the 2009 vintage is again looking very promising for the young winemaker. |
